Storytelling = Engaged Students

Our Mission

We sincerely hope that you become as inspired by teaching through the arts as we have. Highlights of our program included doing a solo drama in our class and storytelling. Students really got engaged and their retention of information from these lessons was very high.

  3. Our current education programs have moved away from the "arts" and as a result, student learning potential has suffered. These lesson plans on your blog provide great examples of how the "arts" can be integrated into the regular core curriculum to increase student learning by tapping into a variety of learning styles.

    1. Yes, so true. Thank you. But there is another reality on the horizon. When you look at the new common core standards for California, you will find that there is an attempt to make a shift to an arts integrated approach. I am hopeful for this shift and at the same time concerned as the financial situation is taking such a toll on education as a whole and being able to provide support for this new initiative in the common core standards may be difficult to meet. You remember...back in the day when we were hired to teach whole language without the materials. The one good thing with this is, more money is not necessarily as necessary as what we need the most is a little creativity in our lesson planning so that we can get more out of a lesson.
      Thank you for your response.
